Behind the Scenes of MiCare, the New European Project Led by IPERIA
93/100 is the score the Agence Erasmus+ France awarded to the MiCare project led by IPERIA. Its evaluation of the project application notes "the exceptional project design". It indicates that "MiCare has all the assets of a project that reflects the reality of its time with visions that give it a dynamic perspective." To learn more about this project, we met with Gloria Ortiz, Head of European Projects, who welcomed these positive results with satisfaction and pride. Let's immediately journey behind the scenes of building a European project.

What is the MiCare project?

"The European Commission supports the MiCare project through its Erasmus+ program. It promotes the socio-professional integration of migrant populations (mainly women) in the dependency care and elderly home care sector, notably by creating a positioning tool and adapted training. This is our first project dedicated to adult education rather than vocational training. The skills covered are transferable, but the pathway will enable beneficiaries to move on to more targeted vocational training. MiCare brings together a consortium of five European partners working with us:
The project will run for 30 months, until April 2023. Due to the current health situation, the kick-off meeting with partners was held remotely on November 5 and 6.”

What is its origin?

"Each year, Erasmus+ launches calls for projects in March, and we respond to them. This is how the ChildIN, PRODOME, ValChild, and TRACK projects came about in recent years. Before proposing MiCare, Elena Diordieva, European Projects Manager, and I were mindful of IPERIA management's desire to reach out to migrant populations, as training is also a vector for social integration for these often underprivileged groups. We conducted internal research across different IPERIA departments about their ongoing work and projects under consideration. Discussions with Camille Savre and Marie Légrésy, Head of Certification and Training Design, respectively, informed our thinking. Camille was working on a positioning tool, and Marie was considering a service focused on migrant needs. We saw an opportunity there to enhance and accelerate this work through the development of a European project. These were the beginnings of MiCare, our 5th Erasmus+ project."

Specifically, what is IPERIA's role in this project?

"Initially, we needed to find partners to build a consortium and prepare an application. We reached out to partners we had previously worked with and to a consultant who suggested other proven, reliable entities that met the requirements. This is how training organizations from Spain and Finland joined us. Our experience, along with the trust placed in us by Agence Erasmus+ France over the years, strengthens our ability to engage institutional bodies and other organizations. This, in turn, enhances IPERIA's influence.

Now, as project coordinator, our role is to ensure the project progresses well and achieves the expected results. This involves facilitating team work and linking different departments and partners. Regarding deliverables, IPERIA will lead on the positioning tool, but we'll participate in everything, as will all partners. European projects are like a journey we embarked on with our partners for several years. Therefore, team spirit, collaboration, and mutual trust are essential."
