Enhancing the personal carer profession
On this National Home Care Workers' day, we want to thank those whose profession is to support elderly or dependent persons. More than ever, faced with sector pressures, we must continue and strengthen our commitment to their professionalization and the recognition of their skills.

A profession of the future in a high-demand sector

63% of personal carers will retire by 2030, representing 338,260 employees*. The number of positions to be filled by 2030 is estimated at 30,000 full-time equivalents. These are alarming numbers for the future of French society because these professionals create essential social bonds, and they actively contribute to the autonomy of the most vulnerable, enabling them to continue living at home. Their presence ensures a reassuring and secure living environment. Their role is central in an aging society where the age pyramid is inverting. But who will do these jobs in the years to come? It is urgent to make this profession more visible and attractive.

Training for professionalization

IPERIA's commitment is to attract people to this future-oriented profession with a strong human dimension, bringing recognition and professionalization. This naturally involves the "dependency personal carer" qualification that we award, which certifies skills and knowledge. Being able to certify one's experience reassures (future) individual employers and guarantees employability. A survey conducted in 2022** thus shows that the employment insertion rate 18 months after obtaining the "dependency personal carer" qualification reaches 74%.

Personalized Guidance for Employment Success

Our objective in making personal carers known and recognized is to create a tangible link between the profession, skills, and career path. We consider it essential to individualize the pathways of (future) employees to help them identify their skills and develop others. This is the objective of the professionalization pathway, which is focused on certification and qualification, and notably, the sector-specific career guidance and development consulting (COEPS) that we implement, which supports building tailored professionalization pathways. For future entrants into the individual employment and domestic work sector or employees in career transition, COEPS has a guidance mission: it allows them to define a professional project and find the right profession. For those already in the sector, this personalized support offers a perspective for skill development to be better integrated into the profession, progress in the field, or even change careers.
