ICT and Active Aging: Carer+ Among Top 25 Most Influential European Projects
Last week, A European Commission study ranked Carer+ among the 25 most influential European projects in new technologies and active aging. The analysis evaluated various criteria, particularly the European Commission's final assessment and the projects' impact outcomes.

"This is outstanding recognition of the tremendous teamwork by IPERIA and its partners," says Gloria Ortiz, Head of European Projects and Partnerships at IPERIA l'Institut. This achievement confirms the Institute's expertise as a key player in professionalizing domestic work in France and across the European Union.

Carer+ is a program promoting digital and social inclusion. It was co-funded by the European Union through its Information and Communication Technologies Policy Support Programme (ICT-PSP) and led by IPERIA from 2012 to 2015. Bringing together 13 European partners, it aimed to develop personal carers' digital skills to enhance the quality of life for elderly people. "Today, the growing importance of digital technology in our daily lives is unquestioned, but that wasn't the case in 2012," recalls Gloria Ortiz. "Offering digital skills training tailored to personal carers and the diverse realities across European countries proved a winning strategy! Carer+ demonstrated that personal carers can be a " missing link" between digital tools and elderly people."

IPERIA continues to spearhead innovative and ambitious projects at the European level, as demonstrated by the PRODOME project, which runs until October 2019 and is focused on the family assistant profession—a role that, despite its vital social importance, often goes unrecognized. "We are working toward effective professionalization that addresses the needs of both present and future societies," concludes Gloria Ortiz.
