A Beautiful Gift for the Tenth Anniversary of the "Childcare Provider/Childminder" Qualification!
The decree published in the Official Journal on October 23, 2018, modifies the distribution of mandatory training hours for approval, changing to 80 hours (divided into three blocks) of training before welcoming the first child.

Holders of the "Childcare Provider/Childminder" qualification do not need to complete blocks 1 and 2 (the child's fundamental needs and specificities of the childcare provider profession), which now makes this qualification among the most significant exemptions from mandatory training.

This is a true victory for all contributing stakeholders. It is the culmination of extensive collaboration between IPERIA, the professional branches of childcare providers and individual employer employees (represented by FEPEM and representative trade unions), and the State (General Directorate for Social Cohesion). It sends a strong signal to future childcare providers and those currently practicing to pursue certification adapted to the profession's specificity and professional environment.

"For many years, we have been committed to encouraging professionalization by facilitating access to training and thus contributing to securing their professional development. Whether regarding the evolution of families' specific needs or territorial dynamics driven by non-relocatable jobs, it is no longer a mystery that childcare providers are part of the present and future of individual childcare," said Marielle Brouard and Véronique Delaitre, the presidents of the Joint National Employment and Vocational Training Committees of the professional branches for childcare providers and individual employer employees.

The qualification consists of 571 training hours, including an internship. IPERIA certifies the skills in this complete qualification that these professionals can claim with their employer(s). More precisely, it includes 438 hours of training and assessment, 105 hours of work experience, and 28 hours of workplace first aid certification training and preparation for assessments/juries.

Today, 441,000 childcare providers* and childminders in France ensure children's care, development, and well-being.
