"Our Certifications Strike the Right Balance Between Social Marker and Skills Marker"
"Building your lifelong learning pathway: new prospects for success?" was the theme of the conference organized by the French Association for the Development of Technical Education (Afdet) in Paris on Thursday, November 21.

Alongside Brigitte Trocmé, Deputy to the Assistant Director of High Schools and Lifelong Vocational Training at DGESCO, Xavier Royer, Training Director at the Union of Textile Industries, and Françoise Amat, Director of the Certification Commission at France Compétences, Michel Fourmeaux, Director of Skills Certification at IPERIA, spoke during a round table dedicated to developments in the professional certification system.

Professional certifications are crucial in the individual employment and domestic work sector. "Faced with significant pressure on occupations and an often degraded image, the qualifications "Dependency Personal Carer", "Family Assistant" and "Childcare Provider/Childminder," which we issue on behalf of the branches, represent an important social marker, but also professional recognition, a lever for employability and career path security," explained Michel Fourmeaux.

Following a logic of personal development and bridges between occupations, the three-level 3 qualifications have been designed in blocks—several shared—and the training frameworks written accordingly. These blocks help sector employees and job seekers to develop and validate skills throughout their career paths and consider professional development throughout their careers. Michel Fourmeaux concluded: "Our certifications strike the right balance between social marker and skills marker."
