The National Early Childhood Week is taking place from March 20 to 27, an event celebrating the parent-child-professional trio through a week of educational workshops in over 6,500 collective and individual childcare facilities across France. The event gathers 325,000 families and 120,000 early childhood professionals around play and new pedagogies. This year again, IPERIA is participating in this event, as it has for several editions. Childcare providers and childminders are invited to use their skills to create a workshop on the theme "Funny Story," intended for children under 8 years old. Prizes can be won as part of a national competition organized on Facebook from March 22 to 29.
Through its involvement in this unifying event around parenthood, IPERIA strives to promote the professions of childcare providers and childminders and the skill development of professionals who practice them. IPERIA, along with the professional branches of childcare providers and domestic employees, has anticipated and supported this evolution for many years. Current projects perfectly illustrate this.
Implementation of the National "Childhood Equality Ambition" Training Plan in the Individual Employment and Domestic Work Sector
For the 2020-2022 period, the government aims to train 600,000 early childhood professionals nationwide in the social challenges of early childhood care and help them progress in supporting all young children's emotional, social, cultural, artistic, cognitive, and sensory needs. This national plan highlights seven training priorities, validated by the High Council for Family, Childhood and Age (HCFEA).
Specifically, for the individual employment and domestic work sector, the goal is to train 88,456 childcare providers and childminders by December 2022. Initially, IPERIA identified 28 modules already present in the priority training offering of the professional branches for childcare providers and domestic employees. The task now is to implement a vast promotional plan to reach the set objective, with support from the network of accredited training organizations: communication campaigns targeting childcare providers and childminders, mobilization of institutional prescribers and partners, etc. Learn moreDevelopment and Piloting of a Professional Qualification Certificate "Working in Shared Childminding Facilities"
The childcare provider profession is evolving with new pedagogies, but also structurally in how it's practiced, through the growth of Shared Childminding Facilities (MAM) in recent years. To highlight this activity for childcare providers and formalize their professionalization in a MAM, IPERIA has designed a specific professional qualification certificate: the "Working in MAM" certificate. Supported by the professional branch of individual employers' childcare providers, this certificate gives childcare providers the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills for working in a MAM. IPERIA submitted this certificate to France Compétences in the summer of 2020. The registration application to the Specific Directory should be processed before summer, but pilots have already launched or planned in several territories:
- Thanks to significant support from the Department, a pilot was quickly established in Gironde. Since January 2021, 13 childcare providers and 2 local training organizations (Greta-CFA Aquitaine and Réseau Girondin Petite Enfance) have been involved. The certification committee meets in early April.
- A second pilot, with employees who already work in MAMs or plan to do so, will begin in April in Ile-et-Vilaine. Following an information session, 40 childcare providers showed interest in the project, proving that this certificate meets a need. ARIFTS, a partner-accredited training organization, is conducting participant recruitment.
- Finally, IPERIA aims to conduct a third pilot in the Nord department during the second half of 2021, with the support from Crefo, which is trying to secure funding. This would target job seekers.
National Pilot of RPL by Skills Block Alongside the Government
RPL by skills block was established by a 2019 decree allowing, on an experimental basis, the completion of individual skills blocks through RPL. This aligns with the spirit of the September 5, 2018 reform. The Ministry of Labor tasked the DGEFP with conducting pilots, and the latter launched a call for participation from certifying bodies. After responding in the second half of 2020, IPERIA is the only certifying body piloting this approach with the government this year. The pilot covers two of its level III RNCP qualifications: the "Childcare Provider/Childminder" qualification and the "Dependency Personal Carer" qualification.
Among the 216 training organizations IPERIA accredits and which are therefore authorized to deliver its certifications, several will be selected based on their experience with RPL, skills blocks, and distance learning. Next comes supporting the professionals or job seekers participating in this pilot: about thirty people are preparing for the "Dependency Personal Carer" qualification, and the same number is for "Childcare Provider/Childminder."
