IPERIA's Commitment to the project "Lab Migration for Domestic Work”, supporting Inclusive, Responsible, Human and Civic-Minded Migration
On Friday, March 11, 2022, the launch Conference of the "Lab Migration for Domestic Work" was held, an innovative project aimed at supporting economic, inclusive, and responsible migration. The event was broadcast live from Marseille, France's second largest city, a dynamic place, symbol of cultural cohabitation, and a bridge between the two shores of the Mediterranean. IPERIA supports this project by providing a comprehensive professional development pathway, aligning with the human resources strategy established by FEPEM for the individual employment and domestic work sector. What is this "Migration Lab"? What challenges does it address for the professional branch of individual employment and domestic work? How will IPERIA contribute? Let's explore.

What is the "Migration Lab"?

The "Lab Migration for Domestic Work" is a civic project that includes foreign-born populations in the professional branch of individual employment and domestic work. This laboratory aims to create a personalized integration and inclusion pathway, from reception to employment, based on the determining triptych "French language, professional skills, citizenship."

A Driverto Meet Employment Needs in the Sector

With the change of professional support and integration pathways, the Migration Lab responds to high employment tensions and recruitment challenges in the professional branch of individual employment and domestic work. It echoes the findings and recommendations of the forward-looking study carried out by the professional branch and conducted by IPERIA between 2018 and 2020.

Indeed, the sector is particularly affected by France's demographic challenge. Nearly 800,000* jobs will need to be filled by 2030. While the average age of sector workers is 48, one in two employees will reach retirement age by then, and the aging population will create additional workforce needs. Therefore, the challenge of professional appeal is a major issue for all actors and partners in the sector's ecosystem. It also involves societal choices in the very short term, particularly regarding the support of our elderly.

The sector is also impacted by structural recruitment challenges inherent to France's labor market. The opinion on high-demand occupations, led by Pierre-Olivier Ruchenstain, Managing Director of FEPEM, and adopted on January 12, 2022, by the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) following the Prime Minister's referral, takes this issue into account. The CESE recommended better integrating newcomers and immigrant populations into employment through recognition of acquired qualifications and an inclusive and responsible approach at the professional branch level. Intending to achieve the fastest and most efficient employability possible, the Lab Migration for Domestic Work aligns precisely with this approach.

IPERIA, Provider of a Complete Professionalization Program

"We offer a complete and integrated pathway within the Migration Lab, where skills recognition will form the foundation of our commitment," explains Nadège Turco, Deputy Director of IPERIA. Within the Migration Lab, the individual will be at the center of the system and will receive individualized support from IPERIA: from occupational guidance to modeling an unprecedented skills positioning test, through to engagement in an adapted certification and training pathway, delivered within IPERIA's network of certified training organizations.

Occupational trends monitoring, candidate sourcing partnerships, qualification and skills recognition support, and employment monitoring... IPERIA builds on its expertise, developed over nearly 30 years. Innovation will also be at the heart of its commitment within the Migration Lab. "Drawing on our experience through mechanisms like the acquired skills determination tool for adapting RPL support and experiments like the European MiCare project, we will implement an unprecedented skills positioning test, covering both professional and personal experience," announces Nadège Turco. This involves identifying experiences that have marked people's lives and professional journeys that could correspond to the skills needed in the individual employment and domestic work sector. Test results will help identify the most appropriate certifications and training pathways, ensuring candidates are well-prepared to succeed in their target roles.

The value of this complete integrative professionalization pathway also lies in its ability to address several types of audiences within a sector-specific pathway, offering professional development prospects. "The goal is to individualize a pathway based on a person's profile by creating all the professionalization steps toward employment first, then employment security, and finally career progression," concludes Nadège Turco.
