
Under the State-Region Planning Contract (CPER)[1], Brittany Direccte and Brittany Regional Council are engaging with IPERIA in fundamental work on regional childcare. This partnership aims to meet family needs by increasing childcare provider occupation visibility and activating drivers—particularly professionalization—to enhance its recognition and attractiveness.

With numerous current and upcoming childcare provider retirements, audience renewal, and young generation entry into the occupation, increasing family demand... Employment and skills needs in individual childcare are strong in Brittany. 20,000 positions must be filled in the next ten years[2]. Aware of these challenges, IPERIA is launching in late 2020, with support from Brittany Regional Council and Brittany Direccte, on employment and training for childcare providers in Brittany. Titled ‘Childcare Provider Professionalization: An Attractiveness Driver for the Development of Individual Childcare in Brittany?’, the study aims to highlight the role of professionalization in securing and sustaining career paths in this field. The results will be presented in autumn 2021.
This project aims to inspire new vocations toward childminder and childcare provider occupations.
