Personal carer networks (RAVie) are an innovative professionalization program based on peer and expert meetings and discussions under a facilitator's supportive guidance. As a bridge between experience and skills, RAVie networks have seen growing success in recent years. Positive results were confirmed by a 2019 study of personal carers and facilitators[i]. Looking back at the RAVie success story, which continues to innovate.
Genesis of Personal Carer Networks
Personal carers support dependent people in essential daily activities, and help them continue living at home. Because they focus on caring for others, they sometimes forget themselves. Recognizing this, IPERIA launched RAVie in 2012, partnering with the professional branch of domestic employees and supported by the National Solidarity Fund for Autonomy. The experiment proved successful and expanded nationally over the years with support from local partners.
What is RAVie Today?
This innovative training program consists of five 3-hour sessions, designed around experience sharing among personal carers, guided by an expert facilitator. It is covered under the skills development plan. Learn more about personal carer networks. Learn more about personal carer networks.
Implemented by accredited training organizations, personal carer networks provide tailored meeting spaces offering:
- Experience, occupation, and best practice exchanges
- Answers through knowledge sharing and facilitator presence
- Expert-led deep dives into concerning topics (such as Alzheimer's, nutrition, and end-of-life)
- Network building with fellow professionals
Proven Results: A Winning Bet!
After 8 years:
- 2,915 participations recorded
- 1,340 personal carers involved
- 95% participant satisfaction
- 30 departments covered
Mobile App Extending RAVie Experience
Personal carer networks now extend "beyond walls" via the "RAVie" mobile app created by and for personal carers. Beyond physical network extension, the app facilitates:
- Ongoing post-network engagement with participants
- Peer-exchange skill development
- Issue resolution and advisory support
- Professional network growth
From their creation, personal carer networks were innovative. They've renewed and evolved through partnership agreements, experiments, participant feedback, and a mobile app launch. This latest innovation should find its audience. The RAVie success story continues.
