The REVA experiment for restructuring RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) has highlighted the role of the pathway architect. As the certifying body for the professional branch of individual employment and domestic work, we are at the forefront of this skills enhancement system. We have initiated personalized support that guarantees better chances of success for candidates in the new RPL. Here are the explanations.
The new RPL is closer to candidates
In 2024, RPL will change: faster, more straightforward procedures for better results. This renewal results from two experiments, REVA and REVA 2, in which we participated as a certifying body. To meet these objectives, pathway architects will be affiliated with candidates to advise and guide them throughout the process of enhancing their skills. As specified by Anthony Terme, our telephone platform service manager: "Pathway architect is the official term requested by REVA. It's a role we launched that has existed since September 2022. It is designed to co-construct an RPL adapted to the candidate's needs. It's true pathway individualization, from advice to courtesy calls".
The pathway architect: a partner at every step
The first contact with the candidate is through an interview lasting 1 to 3 hours. The objective is to review the targeted certification to ensure the choice is correct, address the candidate's background, and assess whether they have enough experience to enhance it. The next step is dedicated to a positioning test that measures skills already obtained and evaluates what remains to be acquired.Following the interview and test analysis, the architect recommends one of 6 pre-constructed pathways, and at this stage, two possibilities are available to the candidate:
- Either they already have enough experience and acquired skills: they therefore need simple RPL support
- Or their test shows unacquired skills across several blocks: they are then recommended to follow complementary training activities.
Personalized support for proven results
During the REVA 2 experiment, 470 applications were received, and 220 people received support. The pathway architect role and case-by-case profile study allowed the extraction of the strongest applications, carried by genuinely motivated candidates. Thanks to this upstream work, 100% of the 220 applications were validated in the eligibility commission: "This individualized approach saves everyone time and doesn't create false hopes," notes Anthony Terme. The pathway architect role is designed to endure over time. Even after the candidate's jury presentation, the architect remains their privileged contact. Its long-term support helps maintain applicants' motivation and desire to build a career in the sector.
And our IPERIA expertise isn't solely intended for RPL. We are developing this personalized support under sector-specific career guidance and development consulting (COEPS) in other projects, such as MiCare and LabMigration, which are innovative professionalization pathways for better access to domestic work professions.
