With the State's launch of the vae.gouv.fr portal on July 25, "The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) restructuring project is taking shape. As a certifying body for the professional branch of domestic employees and individual employers, we were at the forefront of this skills enhancement process that began in 2020 with the REVA experiment and concluded in June with the closure of REVA 2.
From REVA to REVA 2: IPERIA's commitment to RPL renewal
RPL allows everyone to have their experience and skills recognized through a qualification or diploma. Since 2020, it has been the subject of a State initiative to streamline its access. Considered too long, too complex, and underutilized, RPL has been completely redesigned. The restructuring's three objectives were to simplify candidate eligibility, systematize and anticipate their support, and accelerate jury organization and results delivery.
- The first REVA experiment was conducted from September to December 2021, and it involved a limited audience of job seekers across six territories for family assistant and dependency personal carer qualifications. We were among the five certifying bodies involved.
- For REVA 2, the State expanded the experiment to include employees and family caregivers, in addition to job seekers. We were the only ones to deploy this experiment throughout France, including overseas departments, for IPERIA's three qualifications for the individual employment and domestic work sector. The main objective of this second phase was to enhance our specialization in learning pathway design.
Our expertise culminated in the creation of a new position: Pathway Architect. Camille Savre, Head of Occupational Skills Development and Professional Certifications Department, explained, "We created the model. Our teams have been working on it for a long time. It's an 'agile' system, customizable and adapting to the candidate's pace. In this context, IPERIA is well identified thanks to the modular approach we know, master, and deploy. This reflects the soul of our offer: supporting candidates throughout their pathway so they can deepen their knowledge and go further".
A dedicated RPL platform, deployment in 2024
As experimenters, we were involved in the reflection on the construction of the vae.gouv.fr portal, which has just been officially announced by the Ministry of Labor, Full Employment and Integration. It becomes the single place to get information, receive support, and complete all the procedures for Recognition of Prior Learning. This is the first step in the RPL reform initiated by the minister under the law of December 21, 2022, on urgent measures relating to the labor market functioning for full employment.
More than 50 institutional actors—including Regions, certifying bodies, professional branches, and Pôle emploi—have thus gathered on the platform to enable working people to have their skills recognized across nearly 200 certifications in 6 priority sectors: health, social and healthcare, retail, metallurgy, and sports.
Starting now, candidates can register and begin their request for recognition of professional experience. Note that only some diplomas are covered by France RPL. Consult the list of accessible pathways.
